10. Taner Adu – Shooting Guard
Last season’s leading scorer returned to the Pirates after a brief spell at the Raiders and has hit his stride in no time. A dynamic scorer, Taner is a matchup nightmare for opposition defences and is a ball hawking terror at the other end.
54. Dan Briglia – Forward
Savy Veteran Dan is this season’s import player and has a wealth of experience from playing around the world. His inside / outside game is as good as any in the BBL this season and gives the Pirates several different offensive options. He is a great role model to young players, showing that basketball is not all about size and athleticism.
21. Ronnie Baker – Point Guard
England’s most capped player of all time is the Pirates newest recuit and brings leadership and experience to a young side. Ronnie’s ability to act as playmaker or point scorer will be vital to the Pirates in the second half of the season during matches and on the practice floor.
55 - Myles Hesson – Shooting Guard / Small Forward
Rookie Wing Man Myles is a part of the University of East London Scholarship Scheme and flew out of the blocks at the start of the season. His game on game improvement was halted by an ankle injury which has seen him out of action for the majority of the season. A successful return to help will bolster the Pirates Bench in their push towards the end of the season.
15 – Walid Mumuni – Small Forward
Walid’s returned to the Pirates following Myles’ ankle injury and the Pirates-Old-Boy picked up right where he left off at the end of last season. His ability to partner with Taner Adu give the Team a formidable combination on either wing and he has shown that he can still defend with the very best of the BBL.
14 – Zach Gachette – Shooting Guard
The Baby of the Bunch, Zach has exceeded expectations following his rookie season in 2009/10 when he became the first AASE Player to take the court for a BBL Team. Forced into action as a point guard in the early part of the season, he will benefit greatly from playing with Adu and Baker in the backcourt to develop his explosive game.
20 – Adrien Sturt – Power Forward
Adrien signed with the Pirates after impressing Coach Lewis over the summer with his Great Britain workouts. After a slow start which is expected of BBL first timers the 6′10″ Forward is starting to show his all court game. A Top 10 rebounder and shot blocker, Sturt has more to his game than many people originally thought.
4. Colin Sing - Small Forward
Another UEL Product, Sing is now in his second season with the Team. Following an England Call Up over the summer Sing is looking to harness his athletic ability and is proving to be a handful at both ends of the court.
12. Jamell Anderson – Power Forward
A lock in the starting lineup this season because of his defence and rebounding, Anderson is one of the most exciting young players in the league. Able to guard all five different positions, Jamell is working on rounding out his game while studying hard at UEL with his team mates.
23. Sam Toluwase – Forward
Sam’s slam-dunks have made him a firm fans favourite with the Pirates faithful. He was handed an opportunity to represent his Country for the first time this season and is looking to build on his reputation as a defensive stopper and energiser.
